"SI Y'A PAS TOI Y'A PAS MOI, SI Y'A PAS MOI Y'A PAS TOI MAIS Y'A L'AUTRE AUSSI " - Dedication to Umuissi Hnamano

PACIFIKMELTINGPOT IS A LONG-TERM RESEARCH AND CREATION PROJECT ... STEP BY STEP, STAGE BY STAGE, WITH TIME, TRAVEL, ENCOUNTERS ... SINCE 2010 ...

PACIFIKMELTINGPOT builds slowly, creating its cadence through unlikely yet regular rendezvous between France, New Caledonia, New Zealand and Japan. PACIFIKMELTINGPOT was born of the desire of a handful of artists to engage in open, informal practices, putting their need to move forward together to the test of time and geographical distance. Since 2010, several milestones have been reached with the Kanak du Wetr group on the island of Lifou in New Caledonia, the first In Situ Yokohama in Japan in October 2011, and In Situ Wellington in New Zealand in December 2011. For the first time, in December 2012 with In Situ Auckland, Régine Chopinot brings together New Zealand, Japanese and Kanak artists, followed by the first PMP sessions in September 2013 in Osaka and in December 2013 in Lifou and Nouméa in New Caledonia.

In this way, a new "live" object is making its way between near and far, questioning the relationship and articulation between vertical and horizontal, between me, you and the other.

In dance, everything is transmitted orally, as in the ancient cultures of Maori, Samoa, Cook, Kanak and Nippon, where the transmission of knowledge not only uses the spoken word, but also the impact of touch, the memory of places, the practice of certain rituals and the power of the imagination. True arts of living in which dance, song and music are inclusive, never exclusive. The presence of an agile, honed and experienced body is not confined to dance; it can be observed in situations as simple and everyday as walking along paths, in the bush or with field crops, but also in ritualized contexts such as tattooing or the tea ceremony. The many to-ing and fro-ings between the simple and the complex, the individual and the group, are lived in the present with great fluidity and porosity.

PACIFIKMELTINGPOT is multilingual and speaks French, English, Japanese, Maori, Samoa, Cook and Drehu.

PACIFIKMELTINGPOT is a merry bazaar, a chance meeting of individuals who don't mind being mixed, multi, trans, inter or other...

PACIFIKMELTINGPOT has a particular fondness for maritime horizons, and will be meeting in the port cities of Toulon, Nouméa, Yokohama, Wellington, Auckland, Kobe ...
