Régine Chopinot proposes a new public experience by confronting the challenges of choreographic creation with the fields of perception via two spaces, two specific times: a stage, a screen. What questions arise at the level of our visual, auditory and emotional memory when we witness the same writing in two diametrically opposed moments of experience: the live and the captured?
Piécette , choreography Partition rythmique dance, voice and percussion. Piécette is a work on listening, the pleasure of dialogue and play. Simonne Rizzo, a remarkable dancer of precision and beauty, shares the stage with John Bateman, whose presence is enigmatic and performative. They are accompanied by Curro Escalante Vargas with his raw, virtuoso talent.
The piécette film was co-directed by video artist Jean-Baptiste Warluzel, who has accompanied Régine Chopinot on all Cornucopiae projects for the past 2 years. In July 2016, the film was shot in a hypnotic place of space and light: the Mouture hangar at the Salin d'Hyères. The editing, from near to far, highlights the aesthetics and dynamics of the 3 artists' danced and acted performance. Nicolas Barillot's finely-crafted sound work puts us in tune with the dancers' breathing and words. + piécette au carré + unfolds as follows: first, the choreography on stage, followed by a 10-minute intermission, and then the screening of the film in the same space. The evening closes with an audience discussion of the filmed and the living in the presence of Régine Chopinot and Jean-Baptiste Warluzel.Co-produced by Cornucopiae and Châteauvallon - scène nationale, with support from Villa Noailles for costume design. With the support of Châteauvallon - scène nationale for the 3 weeks of rehearsals in the studio in 2015 and Les Salins d'Hyères for filming in the hangar.
