For the third time, the National Dance Center has invited Régine Chopinot to spend a week teaching students in the ELAN class.
In February 2022, Régine Chopinot worked with the first ELAN class in Pantin, and then in August 2022 with the next class.
This year, the workshop is taking place in Lyon with 14 dancers. Régine Chopinot is joined by drummer Vincent Kreyder.
The Élan program aims to open pathways to a professional career in dance. Élan serves as a space for creativity, experimentation, research, and training, enabling young dancers to discover and explore new artistic horizons together.
In 2021, the CN D launched a school promoting equal opportunity in dance, called Élan, whose goal is to open pathways to a professional career in dance. Building on its success and the opportunities this school offers its students, the CN D will launch a sixth Élan class in Pantin and a fourth Élan class in Lyon in 2026.
Élan is a space for exploration and training for young dancers. Through encounters with artists, classes and workshops, and performances viewed together, participants explore a wide range of artistic worlds and the various professions within the dance field. Élan offers young dancers opportunities for reflection and personalized guidance that will help them better envision the next steps in their careers. Independence, cooperation, respect for differences, and a love of learning are at the heart of the educational approach.
Élan is a supplementary program designed to complement self-directed study and training received at conservatories, high schools with dance programs, dance schools, or dance organizations. The program runs for one school year: 4 weeks during school breaks and 9 Saturdays (174 hours of instruction).
Élan Lyon is made possible thanks to the support of the BNP Paribas Foundation. Élan Lyon and the nationwide expansion of Élan are made possible thanks to the support of the Caisse des Dépôts.
